ASCD was founded in 1943 as an educational leadership organization dedicated to advancing best practices and policies for the success of each learner. The 160,000 members in 140 countries are professional educators from all levels and subject areas––superintendents, supervisors, principals, teachers, professors of education, and school board members. The nonprofit, nonpartisan membership association provides expert and innovative solutions in professional development, capacity building, and educational leadership essential to the way educators learn, teach, and lead throughout the world.
Located in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, and East Asia, ASCD affiliates are separate education organizations that work collaboratively as part of the ASCD community to foster common values and goals essential to the way educators learn, teach, and lead. Affiliates provide a forum for the exchange of quality education practices.
Membership in ASCD and its affiliates is separate. You may belong to ASCD; you may belong to the Japan affiliate; or you may belong to both. Learn more about the ASCD® and find out how to get connected with ASCD® members worldwide through ASCD EDge®.
