Social Studies Job Alike
Japan ASCD and the International School of the Sacred Heart (ISSH) will host a Social Studies Job Alike on the morning of Saturday, November 28 at the ISSH campus in Hiroo. The Social Studies Job Alike will be an opportunity to meet other Kanto international school teachers and share practices, ideas, and experiences.
The emphasis will be on:
· technology and software applications in the classroom,
· favorite resources, and
· methodologies
Sessions will run for 50 minutes. Topics include:
• Net 2.0: Class Blogs and Wikis with Students Under 13: How To and Ethical Considerations.
• Microeconomics and Macroeconomics: “Low” and High Tech Teaching Tools and Methodologies
• The I-Search Paper: Genuine Learning Through Self-Directed Research
• European History: On the Web and in Print
We would like to have sessions for middle school and high school teachers. Sessions will run for 50 minutes. Teachers who would like to facilitate a session are invited to submit topic proposals by October 31. The Job Alike schedule will be posted on the JASCD website in early November.
Curriculum Coordinators, Heads of Department, and/or Subject Area Teachers are asked to reply with the expected number of participants coming from their schools as soon as possible to help ensure that each participant receives a materials packet.
